March Curriculum Update – MADE

This month, we will begin laying the foundation for some very important future conversations around the subject of
sexual integrity. Before we ever talk with kids and teens about what to do and not do with their bodies, we need to start with who made their body and why that makes
them so valuable.

And a great place to start is now, in the preschool years, with this simple but powerful truth—God made me. Preschoolers need to learn now that they are wonderfully made by God, in His image. This makes them very important and motivates them to respect themselves and others.

Check out the hand motions for this month’s NEW Bible verse!

WEEK 3 – 3/17 & 3/20

Week three, the foundation will get stronger when we talk about how we are very important to God, not because of what we do but because of Who made us. We’ll unpack what
the word, important, means while we learn that every
individual important to God. Why? Because He made us!

WEEK 4 – 3/24 & 3/27

Week four, we will talk about what it looks like
to respect ourselves. After all, something God made deserves a little respect. Respecting ourselves means taking care of our bodies. We need to eat healthy foods, brush our teeth, and get
enough rest if we want to respect the bodies God gave
us.

WEEK 1 – 3/3

The first block of the foundation we hope to build will be laid week one when we talk about how we are wonderfully made by God.  God made each and every one of us and no two of us are the same. We are each unique and special in our own way.

WEEK 2 – 3/10 & 3/13

Week two, we will add to the foundation that God made us in His image. Yep, that creativity, smartness, desire to help…you got it all from God because He is creative, smart and helpful too!
God made us like Him, and that makes us wonderful!

PARENT EDUCATION NIGHT RESCHEDULED: Handheld Screens and Early Learners THIS MONDAY 3/4

By the time a child turns 3 years old their brain is 80% of its adult size.  In short 3 years little brains are growing at a rapid rate, faster than any other time during a child’s life.

Over the past decade technology has grown at a rapid rate as well. Not long ago screens were limited to TVs and desktop computers in the home or office, but now we have a large variety of technology options, many at our fingertips through handheld devices. Research is starting to emerge about the impact this readily available technology has on our littlest learners.

Early Childhood Ministry and Wayzata Community Church Nursery School, along with Wayzata Early Learning School invite you to join us on
Monday, March 4th from 7-8:30 pm in the Wayzata Community Church Chapel for a discussion on how technology is impacting our youngest learners and how parents and caregivers can play an important role in a child’s development.

Mission in Motion and Special EC Programming – Ash Wednesday 3/6

Join us on Ash Wednesday for some hands-on mission projects appropriate for ages 3 through adult!  Stations will be running in the Gym from 4-6pm.  Note, there WILL NOT be regular Block One programming for Early Childhood so we encourage you and your family to join us in the gym that afternoon.

During Block 3, from 6:30-8pm we will be having Special EC programming and childcare while elementary, middle school, high school and adults enjoy a special Ash Wednesday service in the Sanctuary.  We will enjoy some free play and  learn about Ash Wednesday and preparing for Easter in an age-appropriate and hands-on way.

Kids Night Out

Join your friends in faith for our monthly Kids Night Out event, for children age 3 through 5th grade. This month the theme is everything GREEN! All activities and games will have to do with the color green.

Kids will enjoy a pizza dinner, free play and organized games in the gym, arts and crafts, and a kid friendly movie on the big screen. Registration required. Spots do fill quickly and space is limited to 50 kids so click below to register today!

February Curriculum Update – Love Bugs

We can’t think of a better time to teach preschoolers about how much Jesus loves them than February—the month of love! And how much does Jesus love preschoolers? Well, the same as He loves you and me—A LOT! In fact, there is nothing wider or longer or higher or deeper than the love Jesus has for you and the preschoolers in your life.
This month, our goal is for preschoolers to know Jesus loves them, and that nothing will ever change that.

To do that, we’ve planned some super fun, hands-on-activities and are ready to tell amazing Bible stories in ways that will engage young minds.

We also have some colorful, little friends joining us… LOVE BUGS!

WEEK 3 – 2/17 & 2/20

Week three is an exciting story about a Centurion. He was an important solider that asked Jesus for help. Do you think Jesus helped him? Of course He did! Why? Because Jesus loved him.
Because Jesus loves us, He wants to help us. We can always ask Jesus for help—no matter what kind of situation we find
ourselves in.

WEEK 4 – 2/24 & 2/27

We’ll wrap up the month with a tender story about a time Jesus gave forgiveness, grace, and friendship to a woman who had made a lot of mistakes. Why? Because Jesus loved her, no matter what. Jesus loves us all the time. It doesn’t matter what we do. It doesn’t matter what we say. Jesus loves us—all of us.

Imagine if all of the preschoolers in your life grew up believing, with all their heart, that Jesus wants them to come to Him, He wants to spend time with them, He wants to help them, and He wants to be their friend forever—all because He loves them, no matter what.

February Curriculum Update – The Market

We can’t think of a better time to teach preschoolers about how much Jesus loves them than February—the month of love! And how much does Jesus love preschoolers? WEEK 1 – 2/3 & 2/6

We will kick off the month with one of our favorite stories, Jesus and the Children. In this story, Jesus makes it very clear that children are important, and He wants them to come to Him. Why? Because Jesus loves them! Jesus loves us all—young or old. And, we’re never too old or young to hear about His amazing love for us.

WEEK 2 – 2/10 & 2/13

Week two we will hear a story about Jesus’ friends, Mary and Martha. Jesus wanted them to stop and sit a bit so they could spend time together. Why? Because Jesus loved them.
Jesus wants to spend time with us because He loves us too! We can spend time with Jesus by reading the Bible, by praying, and even by taking a walk out in nature.

What will we do at Camp?

During Church Camp 2019, there are opportunities and activities to meet you and your whole family in your personal and spiritual needs.

The program features age-appropriate and engaging morning activities for all age groups including children, youth, and adults, under the leadership of the WCC Education and Clergy Team.

Afternoons feature a wide variety of camp activities to enjoy, including swimming, crafts, and fun on the lake!  Each evening includes a full camp activity. Again this year we will have programs for the “grown-ups” while  High School and College age students stay with children in their cabins after bedtime.

All-Church Camp Highlights

  • Worship
  • Joyful & quiet reflection in the beauty of God’s creation
  • Activities to grow & deepen relationships
  • Fun and meaningful ways to embrace & affirm each child and young person
  • A chance to “catch your breath” through extended time away from the demands & schedules of daily life

What if I am interested in the Camp experience, but cannot stay the whole weekend?  Can I still come to All-Church Camp?

We understand that the overnight experience may not be the right option for your family.  Thankfully, with the close proximity of our new camp location, a one day camp experience for Saturday July 27th is in the works for those who are interested in summer camp, but cannot stay overnight.  Save the date and stay tuned for details on that coming your way soon!
