These Called2Care sessions, led by Rev. S. Lindy Purdy, are open to anyone in the community who has an interest or is who is companioning a friend or family member through these issues. Sessions meet on Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. in the Colonnade.
THURSDAY, MAY 3: End of Life and Hospice, Grief and Grief Care
This Session will focus on End of Life care and resources including Hospice, Health Care Directives, Comfort Care, and Courageous Conversations. We will also discuss the process of grief and mourning in our culture, and how to companion a loved one who is in the grief experience. This session is free and open to everyone. Registration is not required.
THURSDAY, MAY 10: Mental Health
We will have a guest presenter for this session. Dr. Hollie Holt-Woehl is an adjunct professor at Luther Seminary in the area of Mental Health. There will also be a Psychiatrist present, to address mental health from a medical perspective. This session is free and open to everyone. Registration is not required.
THURSDAY, MAY 17: The Dementias
This session will explore the various dementias that are a growing concern in our culture and address some ways of companioning a someone experiencing dementia or Alzheimers disease We will also talk about the Music and Memory program here at WCC and watch the 78-minute award-winning video, “Alive Inside.” This session is free and open to everyone. Registration is not required.
