Building a Place to Call Home

legos_1For WCC, mission and outreach has always been at the forefront of who we are, as people who care and share our financial gifts to help others. In fact, 10% of what is pledged by members to WCC is given to the Mission and Outreach Board to use for mission and outreach locally, nationally and internationally.

The WCC 10% pledge amount, plus the net proceeds from the Rummage Sale and other fund-raising events, like Mission Festival, Christmas Offering, and Easter Offering are used to help fund programs that meet the guidelines set by the Mission and Outreach Board in its mission statement of who we support and serve.

“Building a Place to Call Home” is more than a campaign slogan, it IS the essence of what WCC’s mission and outreach effort works to accomplish through its financial and volunteer efforts; locally, nationally, and internationally. It is a continuum from charity to social change that reaches people who need:

CHARITY: Emergency relief and are without food or a home, to

SOCIAL JUSTICE: Affordable housing to stabilize their family and build security,| to

SOCIAL CHANGE: Additional help once they have stable, affordable housing through programs offering education and additional resources.

Over the last few years, the Mission and Outreach Board has been changing its process to put more emphasis on giving larger grant awards that will accomplish more.  As a result, each grant must have well defined and measurable goals.

Giving financial assistance is only part of our mission. We must have WCC members volunteer so that the various organizations can attain their goals! That’s why we need your help:
•    Review the organizations listed and the scope of their mission and goals (click here for pdf)
•    Contact the person involved with this organization and discuss how you might volunteer

It’s that easy. You choose the amount of time/days you can volunteer. One hour or one month, it’s up to you, it’s your time and effort that counts! legos_2
