Opportunity International E2 Program

May 22-August 8, 2019
Volunteers needed for the
E2 English Skype Program
Volunteers participate in 30 minute skype video calls from their home computer, tablet or phone to help students at Emprendedora High School in Nicaragua practice English.
Mastering conversational English puts the Nicaraguan students at a significant hiring advantage when they graduate.  Session 1 feedback from Emprendedora has been very positive.  The teachers and students feel that regular practice with native English speakers helps students to develop their vocabulary, pronunciation and confidence.
Volunteers receive the weekly topic along with sample questions and conversation ideas in advance.  During the skype call, pairs of students begin by presenting what they have prepared.  When they have finished, volunteers can ask questions and have a conversation with the students about the topic.  One of Emprendedora’s English teachers is usually in the background to help the students with vocabulary.  Volunteers do NOT need to know any Spanish.  Practice sessions with skype are available if you are unfamiliar with video calling.
Sign up now for our 2nd session which will run from May 22- August 8th, with no calls the week of July 4th (11 weeks.)  Calls will continue to be during the day on Wednesdays and Thursdays during Emprendedora’s English classes.  Volunteers can sign up to have a weekly call or to be an occasional sub.
Please consider building this volunteer opportunity into your summer plans.  A small time commitment from the comfort of your home (or cabin!) can have a positive impact on the English students at Emprendedora.  To sign up or ask questions, please contact Janice Srnec at janicesrnec@yahoo.com or (952) 426-0104 landline.
