Winter Speaker Series: Faith in Action

.

Faith in Action
Wednesdays, January 15, 22, and 29
6:30 p.m. in the Chapel (no 4 p.m. class)

Long ago, the prophet Isaiah cried out, “Here I am, send me!” in response to the call of God. How can ordinary people be inspired by faith to use their circumstances to make a difference in the world? This January, we’ll hear inspiring stories from individuals who have discerned an invitation from God to put their faith in action by loving and serving others. This series will inspire you to explore how God is working through your life to put your faith into action.

January 15: Answering the Call of God with the Clergy Team
Have you ever wondered how WCC’s clergy felt the invitation of God into ministry? Did they dream of growing up to be pastors? No journey into ministry is quite the same. Hear our clergy panel as we explore how the ministers of WCC put their faith into action through pastoral ministry.

January 22: From Family Addiction and Pain to Finding Meaning and Purpose with Jill DiLoreto
Jill DiLoreto, M.S., has lived with addictions in her family her entire life, but she has come to believe in the inherent strength and resilience of families and their loved ones. After one of her children wrestled with addiction, and her 13-year-old daughter was diagnosed with cancer, Jill broke down and told her pastor, “I can’t do this alone.” Her family, recovery group and faith community responded with love and support, and she ultimately sensed God nudging her to help people find meaning and purpose from the pain of a lifetime of family addiction. She founded Families Recover Together in 2022 to provide family, group, and individual coaching to people who are struggling with addiction and trauma.

January 29: Changing Lives One Step at a Time with Dr. Greg Ekbom
Greg Ekbom, M.D., is the President and Founder of Limbfit, an organization driven by the compassion of Christ to support clinical medical services for amputees worldwide. As a highly skilled surgeon who has performed thousands of amputations, Greg experienced personal tragedy when his 33-year-old son had to undergo a double leg amputation. Greg was devastated and cried out to God for help. But a glimmer of hope ignited in Greg as his son took his first steps on his prosthetic legs. Inspired by a new call from God and fueled by courageous faith, Greg travels the world providing prosthetic limbs and spreading God’s love to amputees everywhere.
