Those who would like to be baptized in the lake (or reaffirm your baptism) on Wednesday, June 28—immediately following the WoW service— are invited to walk or drive down to Wayzata Beach (near the Depot and 6Smith) for a full immersion baptism. (Note: parking will be limited.)
1. Who is “allowed” to be baptized?
Anyone who has never been baptized, or wishes to reaffirm their baptism, is welcome.
2. Is it acceptable to be re-baptized?
Yes, it is called “reaffirmation” and reaffirmation of baptism is fine! We will ask if it is your baptism or your reaffirmation of baptism.
3. Do I have to pre-register?
No! But it would be helpful if you could answer a few questions ahead of time. It will save you time on the day of the baptism. Click here to register.
4. What time is the lake baptism?
The lake baptism will take place after Summer WoW is concluded. The WoW service is located at on the front lawn of Wayzata Community Church, beginning at 6 p.m., and worship concludes at around 7:15 p.m. Following WoW, we will walk, bike, or ride down to Wayzata Beach. Please note: parking can be an issue by the beach. Drop-offs are ok, and walking is preferred, as you are able.
5. Where is the lake baptism taking place?
At the west end Wayzata Beach (west of the Depot and 6Smith Restaurant).
6. What should I wear?
It is best to wear a swim suit under your clothing. You may wish to bring dry clothes and a towel, and wear water shoes to protect your toes. (Watch out for your cell phones!)
7. Is there a pre-baptism class I have to take?
No, but if you have questions, give us a call and read Mark 1:9-11: “Baptism is saying Yes to God’s invitation of love. It is knowing that you are a beloved child of God, and in you God is well pleased.”
8. Is this for adults only, or for children and infants as well?
Children and infants may be baptized if accompanied by parents.
