March Unit: Jesus Calls Helpers/Jesus Creates a Family

When Jesus began his ministry, he called people to follow him and to help him do God’s work. Some of these people were fishermen. He told them that he would teach them to fish for people. He also called a tax collector and many others. All of the dropped everything to follow him.

Jesus choice of followers surprised some people. Some leaders wanted him to choose people they could approve. But Jesus told his followers that anyone can follow him and do his work.

Throughout the five weeks of March we’ll explore what this means by reading from the bible, memorizing a verse, and engaging in hands on activities in art, cooking, spiritual practices, games and drama . Join us all month!

Tithing in church: All children received a reusable tithing bag in Sunday School this year. Our hope is that kids get used to bringing in a gift for the church each time they come to Sunday school (around $1). We talk about the importance of giving back to the church and that in a church we don’t have dues or a cost to attend, we give from our hearts. Please help your kids get in the habit of bringing their tithing gift to church each week.

6:30-8:00pm FaithTrek: March Theme….Individuality

This month we’re explore the word individuality: discovering who you’re meant to be. Each week in March we’ll dive into the bible in creative ways to discover the unique qualities that we all have. We are all made in god’s image and all have unique qualities to make us one of a kind. Join us as we discover our individuality this month in March.

Open gym-Each Wednesday the gym is open for free play from 5:30-6:30 before class starts. Responsible high school students are in the room to monitor kids as they play. All kids are called into their classes by leaders at 6:30 sharp.

Each week Miss Autumn joins us during class to teach songs that tie in with our monthly theme! All kids also have small group leaders who meet with them each week to build relationships and to teach the lessons through games and activities. Research shows that all kids need caring adults other than their parents in their lives to walk with them on the journey. Our committed leaders understand this mission and have signed on for the year to walk in faith with your kids! Take the time to thank your child’s leaders each week.

Healthy Snacks Needed

Each week in our Wednesday evening class we enjoy a healthy snack in our small group time. Thank you Abood and Bunch family for providing loads of yummy snacks for the month!

Book Drive: Collecting books for Kids all Month:

Children’s Ministry is collecting gently used children’s books all month which will be donated to local non profit: Read indeed. This awesome organization sends books to kids in need around the state, country and world. Drop books off at the west entrance in the decorated box. All kids deserve to have books to read!

VBS 2019!! Aug. 12-16 (9-12 daily)

Registration has now opened for VBS 2019. All kids ages 3-5th grade are invited to attend. Kids entering middle school next year and older can sign up to be on the junior counselor team. Older than 14 can apply to be a senior counselor (Look for details in April). Once again this year we have an option for extended day on Monday through Thursday.

Thank you all who joined us on Ash Wednesday, for our annual Mission in Motion service and mission fair! We learned about local and international organizations and to help others in the community and world, made 200 sandwiches, filled loads of bags with laundry soap, made dog and cat toys for the humane society and so much more. Thank you to our awesome children’s ministry board, our sponsor Rick Graft as well as the 140 children, middle schoolers, high schoolers and adults who worked hard to help those in need!!

Over 100 kids (3rd-5th grade) have already registered for summer camp this summer. Both of the children’s sessions are in July this year. Session 1 still has openings! Jump on board before this session fills up! I promise, your kiddos will have the time of their life!!
