December in Graceland: Celebrating the Birth of Christ: Throughout the month of December we’ll experience the Christmas story in creative and innovative ways! We’ll make crescent roll angels in the cooking lab, run in obstacle nativity relay races, follow a map and figure out the mileage of Mary and Joseph on the road to Bethlehem, make crayon resist watercolors and so much more! Scripture verses this month include: Matthew 1:18-24; Luke 1:26-38, 46-47; Luke 2:1-7. Our memory verse is Isaiah 9:6. Look these up as a family and talk about them this month as we enter this holy time of year together!!
On Sunday Dec. 23 we’ll all celebrate Jesus’ upcoming birth with a Nativity movie on the big screen! Don’t miss any of the fun, faith filled weeks ahead! Sunday School for k-5th graders is in individual grade level classrooms at 9am and in one one room schoolhouse style group at 10:45am each week.
Each week Miss Autumn teaches songs that tie in with our monthly theme! This Sunday, Dec. 16th we’re singing in the sanctuary at 9am!
Faith Trek Wednesday Program 6:30-8:00pm Throughout the month of December we’ll be learning about the importance of Compassion! Each week we’ll learn an important bible story which will help us discover that the best way we can carry on God’s message in the world is by sharing compassion with others. All activities, songs and small group lessons will help kids of all ages to explore and learn more about what compassion looks like and how to share it in our daily lives. On Wednesday December 19th we’ll have a cookie and ice cream sundae party in all classrooms! Join in on the fun each week!
Throughout the month in FaithTrek we’ll be collecting hats, mittens, scarves and socks for others living in temporary shelters at Sharing and Caring Hands in Minneapolis. Please add to our compassion mitten tree sometime this month. it will be in the gym by your child’s classroom each Wednesday in December.
