2019 is in full swing and we’re excited to ENJOY THIS BEAUTIFUL WINTER! We hope you will join us for all the wonderful events and ministry that we have planned for you during this sometimes isolating and homebound time of year.

Summer 2019- Save these dates!

We are excited for all that Summer 2019 will bring! We want to get dates to you as early as we know them so that you can plan your Summer. We have a lot of amazing ministry for your Middle Schooler to be involved in this summer and we want to get the dates out to you so you can start to put them on your calendar, talk to friends and plan for your Middle Schooler to spend time with us this summer!

Join us on Sunday, January 27th at 10am in the Middle School Corner to ask Christa any questions about Summer Camp, Mission Trip & Summer Stretch!

SUMMER CAMP

Join us this Summer as we stretch our faith through service projects and fun fellowship activities. Summer Stretch is an all-day activity. Please plan to be a part of the whole day.

 SUMMER FUN WITH OUR MS LEADERS- for current 6th, 7th & 8th Graders!

  • DATES TO BE DETERMINED IN LATE SPRING

Back by popular demand! Last Summer was our first Summer of Summer Fun with MS Leaders and it was a BLAST! Middle School Leaders will offer different fun activities to do with a group of MSers to get to know different MSers. There will be a limit to how many Middle Schoolers can sign up. When it’s full, it’s full. We will post different events on June 1, July 1 & August 1 for each month through an email and social media. Have fun as a group & enjoy meeting some new friends & spending time with other leaders! Depending on the activity, there might be a fee or you might be asked to bring something to share with the group! Last years events included biking and ice cream, going to a Ninja Warrior Course, Backyard BBQ  with Lawn Games, Hiking at Baker Park, Mini Golf, Swimming at Long Lake Beach, and going to a Twins Game!

MLK Jr Ski, Board & Tubing Day!

Looking for an activity for your Middle Schooler while they are off school?

Join us for a fun day in the snow on MLK Jr. Day on MONDAY, JANUARY 21 at Powder Ridge.  We will enjoy a full day of tubing, skiing or snowboarding from 8:30am-5pm. PICK WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO DO FOR THE DAY OR BRING YOUR OWN EQUIPMENT.  Drop off will be at WCC at 8:30am and pick up at WCC at 5pm. Please send your child along with a lunch or money to buy lunch. Friends are always welcome to join us!

We also need adult volunteers that would like to come play in the snow with us for the day! No cost to you! Just email Christa to join in the fun!

Friday, January 25!

Did someone say GIRLS NIGHT?!?

All 6th, 7th & 8th grade girls are getting together for a Girls Night on Friday, January 25 at 6 pm through Saturday, January 26 at noon. This annual event is an awesome time to get to know and have fun with each other and our Middle School Leaders.  Christa has planned some great crafts, games, outside fun, baking, discussions, service projects and more. It will be a great night to hang out in our sweats with other girls. Cost is $30 and includes dinner, breakfast, snacks, lodging and activities- crafts, service projects, baking and more! Friends new to WCC are welcome to join!

6th Grade Milestone- Wed, Jan 30

This one session Milestone is for parents and their 6th graders, along with their 6th grade Middle School Leaders. We will explore some of the mental, emotional, and physical transitions occurring in the life of a 6th grader. This stone will give ample time for parents and students to talk peer-to-peer about the changes they are feeling and experiencing.

NEW THIS YEAR! Join us for dinner first with other 6th grade families and your 6th Graders Leaders from 5:15-6:30pm in Mithun Hall at WCC!



Friday, February 1!

All 6th, 7th & 8th grade guys are getting together for some time with the guys on Friday, February 1 at 6 pm through Saturday, February 2 at noon. The night will be filled with some great games, competitions, outside fun, discussions, and more. This annual event is an awesome time to get to know and have fun with other middle schoolers and our Middle School Guy Leaders. Cost is $30 and includes dinner, breakfast, snacks, lodging and all activities! Friends new to WCC are welcome to join!

Volunteer to provide food for our Students!

We spend a lot of money on food for our Middle Schoolers every year. With your help, we can use that money to instead create more experiences for our students!

MS Sun AM DOUGHNUTS/POP TARTS/CEREAL, JUICE & FRUIT:
Please sign up to provide some sort of breakfast food or juice and fruit for our Middle Schoolers to enjoy on Sunday mornings while we are learning about the different people in the Bible. Please drop them off before 9am on Sunday morning outside of the Middle School Corner (off the West Entrance) OR DROP FOOD OFF THE WEEK BEFORE IF YOU WON’T BE AT 
CHURCH ON SUNDAY!

WEDNESDAY AFTER SCHOOL HEALTHY SNACKS:
Our Middle Schoolers are hungry right after school and appreciate a snack as they spend time with friends and work on homework. Please help provide healthy snacks for our Middle Schoolers after school. I usually provide some sort of variety of the following- fruit, cheese sticks, crackers, carrots with ranch, hummus, chips &
 salsa, microwave popcorn, etc. We have about 30 Middle Schoolers that show up. Please drop it off on the date stated or before!

    • We enjoyed One Word Sunday with our family!

    • We took today off to go back to school or to get ready to go back to school.

    • We gathered again to start 2019 by talking about Elizabeth and what an incredible friend she was to Mary while they were both pregnant. We talked about the qualities of a good friend and why good friends are important.

    • We started off 2019 at Crossroads by jumping into our unit on “Learning to Grey” and talked about BOUNDARIES! We especially focused on Boundaries with our family. Click here to see what we talked about!

     salsa, microwave popcorn, etc. We have about 30 Middle Schoolers that show up. Please drop it off on the date stated or before!

    Have Extra Fun Size Candy around your home? Donate it to WCCMS! We enjoy a fun size treat during our small groups on Wednesday nights! You can drop it off at WCC at the main office or the Middle School Corner with Middle School written on it!

      The Last Few Weeks

      SUNDAY, DECEMBER 2
      • We talked about what it would be like to be the Innkeeper in the Christmas story and how the story might have been different if the Innkeeper hadn’t taken a chance on helping Mary and Joseph. We talked about how we can take a chance helping others. 
      WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 5
      • We shared about our Christmas traditions with our small group after hearing Leader Katherine, share about a few of her Christmas Traditions. 
      SUNDAY, DECEMBER 9
      • The Wise Men were our focus for this Sunday! We talked about how the Wise Men were seeking out Jesus. We shared how we can still seek out Jesus and share Jesus love with others.

      Middle School Ministry Update- December 1, 2018

       

      Hello from Wayzata Community Church Middle School Ministry

      Hi WCCMS Families,

      We kicked off the Advent Season on Thursday night with the Middle School Lady Leaders and Girls attending WCC Annual Women’s Christmas Tea while our Middle School Guy Leaders and Boys enjoyed some Christmas Games and fun together!       Advent Workshop Helper Elves!

      Help the children of WCC kick-off the Advent Season by volunteering at the annual Advent Workshop.  The workshop gives children the opportunity to create crafts and ornaments celebrating the Christmas Season.  Adults and Middle Schoolers are needed to help with running different craft stations.

      The Advent Workshop runs from 2:30-5:30 in the WCC Gym. Volunteer to help from 2:15-4:15pm or 4-6pm to run a craft station. Helpers will also have the option to make some crafts!

      Small Group Christmas Celebrations!

      On Wednesday, December 12 during Crossroads (6:30-8pm), we will enjoy our normal large group time together talking about Christmas traditions and singing Christmas songs. When we go to small groups, we will enjoy a Christmas Celebration with our small groups. Middle School Leaders from each small group will be emailing out details specific to their small group that week. 


      Christmas Crossroads is Wed 12/19!

      On Wednesday, December 19 from 5:45-8:30pm we’re going offsite for some fun! Wear your best tacky Christmas sweater or Christmas clothes and join us for a night of offsite fun as we celebrate Christmas together as a Middle School group! We’re excited to get a little crazy and play lazer tag & whirlyball!  Invite a New friend to attend for free using the discount code- NEWFRIEND

      We spend a lot of money on food for our Middle Schoolers every year. With your help, we can use that money to instead create more experiences for our students!

        We had 43 Middle Schoolers participate in the Sleep Out last Saturday along with our Middle School Leaders! We enjoyed going to IOCP and seeing all the other youth that also participated and learning more about why people experience homelessness and how we can help!         Christmas Tea for MS Girls!

        Every year, our Middle School Girls and Middle School Lady Leaders like to be a part of this beautiful women’s event at WCC on Thursday, November 29 from 6:30-9pm. Dress up in a fun festive outfit and join us for hot chocolate and snacks at our tables. Hear a Christmas story and enjoy some Christmas carols. A fun way to get into the holiday spirit together! This is a free event!

        Christmas Fun for MS Guys!

        NEW this year! The Middle School Guys and Middle School Guy Leaders are getting together to have some Christmas fun on Thursday, November 29 from 6:30-8:30 pm!  Dress up in a fun holiday outfit and join us for hot chocolate and snacks, a Christmas game and movie. A fun way to kick off the Christmas season together! Friends are welcome to join! This is a FREE event!

          The Last Few Weeks

          SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 4
          • We talked about why people experience homelessness and what we can do to help to get us ready for the Sleep Out. We also put together laundry detergent bags to give to the IOCP food shelf and dog and cat toys for the Animal Humane Society. 
          WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7 
          • Our small groups discussed what it means when Jesus asks us to be radical. One of the actions that we talked about as being radical in todays world is doing the Sleep Out! Click here to see what we talked about. 
          SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 11
          • We were in worship celebrating the Sleep Out and Mission Sunday!
          WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14
          • The 6th & 8th Grade small groups enjoyed doing mixed gender groups while we talked about Being Grateful. Click here to see what we talked about.
          • Our 7th Graders, along with their parents/guardians, enjoyed our last night of Milestones and talking about what does our Dream Relationship look like. If you missed it, there is information on the WCCMS Info Board right outside the Middle School Corner!
